Would you believe this? Age is just a number!
Is age just a number? What about your life would others consider ‘unusual?’
Let me think. When I was 60 I was given 6 months to live. So maybe the most “unusual thing” is I’m still alive! So how did I celebrate rising from the almost dead? I’ve been a life-long writer so I promised myself that if I made it through an “incurable” heart disease diagnosis, I would start publishing. I began with a poetry book in 2009 The LOVE Fix and published poetry again in 2011, 2013. I went on to write and publish fiction, and finally, when I felt enough time had elapsed, II told the story of my illness and why/how it all came about in my first Memoir LOVE The Beat Goes On.
Through all that, I drove by myself from Mexico to Canada in 2007, and back again in 2009. I spent 2 weeks on the way up to British Columbia, stopping to write poetry and yes — having minor heart attacks that I diagnosed as ‘allergic’ reactions to sinus meds! And I spent a month on the road in 2009 when I drove back to Mexico.
I’m an adventurer but I never saw myself that way. Fast forward a few years and I have 16 books on Amazon, lived a great life in Puerto Vallarta Mexico, and finally retired from full-time work in my 72nd year and began a journey to find a new home.
I bought a one-way ticket that began in the USA, then France, India, Turkey, Israel, and finished in Bangkok. I sold everything except what would fit in a back-pack and one suitcase and said goodbye to my friends. I thought my…
