A nurse revealed the tragic last words of his coronavirus patient: ‘Who’s going to pay for it?’

The headlines of the article I have linked up above made me cry.

I’m a traveler living in a foreign land. I came to Istanbul on a two-day layover between India and Israel and caught what the locals call the Byzantine Virus — and the eye of a young Turk. Two months later I came back and applied for a one-year-residence visa.

Most people find this strange. My friends shook their heads and smiled. After all, I’m Canadian but lived in Mexico for 18 years. And then retired from my sales career, sold everything to travel the world and write full time. I may have got that backward. “Travel when you’re 18 years old then settle down.” But I was too afraid to travel alone when I was young. I’m all grown up now!

But if you asked me a year ago if I would be living in Turkey, I would have laughed out loud. I wasn’t sure where the country was on the map. And up until six months ago, I thought Turkey was in Europe!

Where am I going with this story? Friends, family, fans, readers all wonder Why Turkey? I know the Western news is predominately slanted against Muslims. But I’ve made it one of my several missions in life to alter that perception. I live amongst a quiet sense of kindness that shows up in all the little things. I don’t speak the language and that’s…
