Gone With the Wind 1939

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

We spend far too many years of our lives trying to fit into a world/mold that someone else has created. It could be our parents, teachers, lovers, or even our children. But a long time ago, I decided if there was any dancing to be done, I wanted to dance to my own beat. “I took the road less traveled, and that has made all the difference.” Robert Frost — a freebie quote for you.

I wrote my first memoir after I had to deal with a health crisis in 2008. The doctors told me I had six months to live. But I come from the Baby Boomer generation. We don’t like to listen to advice. We’ve carved our own way in a world that is constantly changing. We’ve even changed what it means to “retire” or “settle down.”

We legitimized living together, free love, the hippie lifestyle, smoking pot, divorce, leaving our children to figure out their own lives, and working well into our 80’s at something we love. We’ve approved of same-sex marriages, realized there are more people inhabiting this world than people who are either Protestant or Catholic. We also came to the conclusion that it’s okay for a woman to aspire to be a CEO or President of the USA. It also took us a lifetime to finally understand we don’t have to live with #MeToo or a misogynistic harassing workplace.
